ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "Religion is willingness (1)." He repeated this three times. The Companions asked, "Towards whom, Messenger of God?" He replied, "Towards God (2), His book (3), the leaders of the Muslims (4) and the public (5)." Footnotes: (1) Being sincere. (2) Truly believing in the oneness of God, and purifying one's intentions when worshipping Him. (3) Believing in God's book (the Qur'ān) and applying its teachings to one's life. (4) Obeying them within the boundaries set by God. (5) Advising them. ”

Sunan at-Tirmithiy كتاب الزكاة باب ما جاء فى الصدقة فيما يسقى بالأنهار وغيره

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِى مَرْيَمَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنِى يُونُسُ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ سَنَّ فِيمَا سَقَتِ السَّمَاءُ وَالْعُيُونُ أَوْ كَانَ عَثَرِيًّا الْعُشْرُ وَفِيمَا سُقِىَ بِالنَّضْحِ نِصْفُ الْعُشْرِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, prescribed from [the produce of] rain or spring watered lands, and that which directly absorbs ground water, a tithe (1), and from [the produce of] irrigated lands half a tithe (1).
